[...] This feels like it has been ages in the making, and I suppose it has. Craziness around exam and Christmastime meant that prize-announcing had to be postponed. But now I’ve got the final contestant list! The wiener will be announced tomorrow. Here’s a final bit of link-love to the wonderful and generous contestants in the Pretty in Pink Contest: [...]

[...] It’s the 16th entry into the Pretty in Pink Contest! Monica has knit a hat to go into the hat box at her local hospital’s oncology center. Her hat is part superwash wool, part sock yarn, which makes me think that maybe all the wool I have in my stash could be used for this purpose instead of being forever hidden from the heads of cancer patients. I’m so afraid of making a hat that’s too scratchy… Maybe I’ll just buy some Rowan Calmer instead and play it safe. Only a week until the end of the contest! I think maybe 50 was too ambitious a goal, so I’ll be happy if we hit 20. Let’s go for 20! I have a week to knit a hat, maybe two, that means I need another two or three entries from you darlings and we’ll hit our (new) mark! [...]

[...] Finished another “Montague” hat for Pretty in Pink. It took a couple days longer to finish than I’d have liked, since the yarn got into an almighty tangle. I worked at a yarn store for a while, so I thought I’d learned how to tackle a ball of yarn that looked like it had gotten into a fistfight with an octopus. The key is patience. Untangling yarn is an excellent zen exercise: after trying to outsmart enough balls of stubborn string, you learn that untangling yarn takes as long as it takes. There’s no rushing it. After butting heads with slippery ribbon yarns and half-felted wool, not much fazed me — not even a skein that looked like I did when I was an 8-year-old tomboy whose parents had to occasionally cut the knots out of my hair with a penknife.
[...] Monday was quite a manic one. First my company was bought out ; second, Rich reported that when he heard a bunny sneezing fit in the Kids’ living area, he turned around to console Jessi, but it was her bun-mate Zydeco (His Little Man, and my Angry Ewok). Yikes! At least on Halloween night I have more tricks for you. No, I did not finish the little Clapotis, but I will after I get a Running Bunny’s birthday shawl in purple yarn underway. I do admit, the Clapotis is perfect for taking along because I have memorized the pattern. Instead of the Clapotis, I gave to Amy Singer’s CIBC Team. Besides the donation I did for the amazing Debbie at I hope that counts towards the Pretty in Pink. If not, I am still glad I did it. [...]

[...] Tuesday during lunch I finally finished Aidan’s booty “shoes” which only needed to be seamed and laced. I began using the Uggs Baby Booty pattern on the “Oh Baby!” Knitty Gritty episode, but I ended up revamping the entire pattern and making it my own. They were part of my “Show and Tell” tonight in Fabric Place (I accidentally left the 2 pairs of Blizzard mittens in the car!). I hope you like them. My plan is to change the pattern from a 2-needle to a DPN/circular one. Meanwhile, I am torn between starting the Swallowtail shawls (Heidi’s in Cascade 220’s heathery grassy green, Anita’s in Misti Alpaca Lace’s pale mint, and Ma’s in New Tweed’s tomato red colorway) or knitting up more of the WIPs/froggeds into KAL projects. As much as I want to cast on for those shawls, I know I need to finish those items before I begin knitting up my gifts. So what did I do instead? I cast on the frogged Plassard’s Gagnante in dusty pink for a smaller version of the shawl featured in Knitty’s October Breast Cancer issue. Yup, this will be my 8th Clapotis and will go to one of the charities listed on Eve’s site. Plus, I am still plowing away on that first triplet’s poncho. I need to take an occasional break because knitting with cotton hurts my fingers. Before I forget (AGAIN!), here is my SP9 Questionnaire. I had added it last week, but did not make the link so obvious on my sidebar. For some odd reason, I could not get the red to show up correctly in the title. Just figure that when I am about to start the SP9 swap, I finished another. My Knitters Tea Swap 2 Spoilee received her package Tuesday morning. Miss Mary and her kitties liked everything! It was so fun shopping for this swap. Many thanks to Suzie for organizing it and for Marie hostessing our group, too! Because I am such a proud momma on what I sent, I will leave you with the link to the goodies on her blog. =:8 [...]
