These are my Hello Kitty socks. They say Hello Kitty along the front, and they are very cute.
These are my Hello Kitty socks. They say Hello Kitty along the front, and they are very cute.
These are my favourite socks ever, and they are both missing mates so I wear them together and sometimes their awesomeness overwhelms me. I am overcome by the occasional case of the vapors, for which only hysterical paroxysm is the cure. I’m sorry, that was a bit rude.
I love Barbara Walker. Because of her (and of course Becky from Knitting Interrupted), I have this beautiful lace to look at:
It’s the Japanese Feather Stole from knitspot, a blog that is starting to become one of my favourites. The stitch pattern is from Barbara Walker’s second treasury, and I have fallen head over heels in love with it. I love it so much that I went to Indigo yesterday trying to find the book so I could buy it just to discover the secret of this delightful 28-row repeat, but it wasn’t in. Not at the library, either. Sigh.
So I decided to do some detective work. I searched for Japanese Feathers and found two free patterns that were based on the Japanese Feathers stitch: Japanese Feather Socks, which I’d seen before and also drooled over, and the Wavy Feathers Wimple, which I’d seen before and… also drooled over. I believe there’s a pattern emerging.
Even more folks have entered into the Pretty in Pink Contest! These fantastic four have make it a nice round eight entries, which is 16% of the goal. Still plenty of time to knit an entry yourselves! Go to!
Batman has knit an extremely small cap for a preemie. Don’t worry, I’m sure there are plenty babies the size of cats, otherwise it would be unfair to hold baby vs. cat fights. At the very least, they would not allow circle betting.
Arlette has knit a fantastic chemo cap of her own design, called Montague.
Kimberly has knit a darling pair of pink mittens. She’s also got a clapotis on the way!
I went to the Pacific Mall on Saturday, and I bought SO MANY delicious things! Not only delicious in a gustatory way, but also in a soul-soothing way. The Pacific Mall in Markham, Ontario is the largest indoor Chinese mall in North America and there’s also an Asian market nearby, so I managed to buy quite a few things that I can’t anywhere else. The spoils:
Ruffly Scarf, started September 1st, 2006, finished September 2nd, 2006 (I left it in Toronto and didn’t get a chance to photograph it until now)
Pattern: Cast on 100, alternate between a K1M1 row and a knit row for approx. 9 rows.
Yarn: Patons Lacette in Precious Pink (39% Nylon, 36% Acrylic, 25% Mohair)
Needles: 6.5mm circs
Dimensions: Half a foot in width. Three to four feet in length on one side, 500 trizillion feet on the other. Hence the ruffles.
Pattern Notes: This was really boring to knit, but I didn’t have to pay attention to it at all. I finished it in a night. I believe I was watching Finding Nemo for part of it, which made it all bearable. The only modifications I made to the pattern was to increase the number of rows to 11 or 12, because it was too thin. I couldn’t stand making more increases by row 9, so I did fewer increases in the middle of the scarf, making the ends a bit rufflier than the middle.
Would I knit it again? I promised my mom I’d make one for her, so I suppose I’ll have to. No really, it’s actually a very nice pattern and I like it and I don’t mind knitting it again, but only in front of the television and no less than a month from now, because I want to stay away from that yarn for as long as possible. I detest mohair.
