I wrote a little script that randomly chooses KnitPicks Palette colours and makes a collage with them. Here are a few I like :)

A special note to my readerz

Poodle SheepA friend of mine convinced me to try Google Ads again; I had them before in the hopes to make back some of my hosting fees, but not very much came in. I figure if it makes me $2 a month, that’s still fine, then I only have to pay $8 in hosting fees. Ads are only shown to folks who haven’t commented on my site before. Basically, transitional people will see the ads, but my regular readers—or at least those who have commented—won’t. If you’re a lurker and you don’t want to see the ads, leave a comment and say hi!

For those who made it all this way, here’s a treat for you: news that Japanese rich folks (and a famous actress) accidentally bought sheep that were cleverly disguised as poodles. Hilarious!

Pimp my Child

Young PimpLord knows, I understand how hard it is to make it as a female pimp in North America. But this little girl is well on her way to slappin’ hos and wearing crocodile shoes. At this point she’s only got the earrings and the coat, but with a little bling, maybe a ring with a 4 inch naked lady protruding from it, a hat with a big feather and of course the requisite pimp cane, she could certainly apprentice with Snoop Dogg for a few years before striking out on her own. Once she’s built up her resume, the world is her oyster. Her heavily made-up, syphilis-filled, cocaine-snorting oyster.

Bitch, where my money? I need me some dunkaroos, ho.

Naughty Knitting

Rebekka

So apparently May is staying-in-the-bathroom-too-long month, otherwise known as “No mom, I’m reading comic books under my sheets” month. San Francisco (of course) will be holding an oh-god-don’t-come-in-I’m-changing-a-thon on May 27th!

This got me thinking about activities that are pleasurable, but in the long run are not perceived to serve a higher purpose (except stress-release, and happiness, and stronger muscles, etc). What is the knitting equivalent of petting the panda? Is it startitis? Is it lace? Is it the knitting of impractical, won’t wear it but I’ll love to knit it items?

I love this little meme! I found it via Kate.

Mark with bold the things you have knit (or are knitting), with italics the ones you plan to do sometime, and leave the rest.

I’m introducing an extra bit: link to pages if they’ve been documented!

Finished Santa Cruz

That’s two FO posts in two days! I am on a roll. And not just any roll, it’s a fancy focaccia thingie with cheese on top and rosemary sprinkles. Mmmm, rosemary. My last chapstick was rosemary flavoured so until about a week ago I smelled like pork chops all the time. Now I smell like pomegranates. It’s Phthalate Free!

Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz, started April 13th, 2007, finished May 9th, 2007
Pattern: Santa Cruz from MagKnits
Yarn: Cranberry merino, frogged from a sweater
Needles: 4.5 mm circulars
Size: Bulky, the largest one
Pattern Notes: I added an extra half lace repeat.
Would I knit it again? I wish I could say yes, but no, I would not knit this pattern again. If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know what a debacle this was. I am so glad this hat is finished. It’s a great idea, but it’s so fiddly, and the lace pattern is hard to deconstruct when in the middle of it. I’ve had to rip this so many times. No more. I’d recommend this for cleverer knitters than I, but certainly not for beginners or for folks who knit by the seat of their pants. Unless you really know what you’re doing.

On the other hand, the end product is beautiful! I really love this hat. It’s so stylish! The only down-side is that I have big ears, so I don’t know if I should tuck them into the hat or out.

Santa Cruz

I’m so happy, you get two whole pictures of my smiling face!

Garter Stitch Scarf

Garter Stitch Scarf, started May 4th, 2007, finished May 7th, 2007
Pattern: Garter stitch!
Yarn: 2 balls of Moda Dea Cache in colourway #2368, “Rendezvous.” The yarn is a bit splitty and slightly rough, but the colours are beautiful and it sparkles! Another bonus is that I got each ball for $2. I’m saving my favourite colourway (#2347, “Wink”) for a garter stitch scarf for myself, and I think I’ll go up a needle size to around 5 to 5.5 mm.
Needles: 4.5 mm circulars
Dimensions: 6in by 5ft
Pattern Notes: It’s garter stitch!
Would I knit it again? Indeed, I would. I didn’t realize that something like garter stitch could be so relaxing at a time when I just wanted to knit and ignore the complications of lace or cables or whatever. I felt like garter stitch was cheating! But it’s not. It’s productive and fun and relaxing! And I love it.

Knitty Surprises: Victoria!

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

I love this new surprise pattern from Knitty: a lace parasol called Victoria. I’m tempted to knit something similar for my family’s yearly garden party, for which I’m knitting a shawl, too. I could see this turning into a basic, manipulable pattern, maybe something that could be turned into a Japanese Feathers parasol? I’m just obsessed with Japanese Feathers, that stitch pattern blows my effin’ mind.

My latest knitting: I’ve hit a bit of a knitting lull, so I’m taking advantage of the free time and lack of desire to knit anything complicated by knitting a bunch of garter stitch scarves for Christmas. They’re pretty much just garter stitch scarves, which isn’t interesting enough to photograph unless I were Eunny or brooklyntweed.

I thought I’d document for you how many hats I’ve had to go through to get one right.

Attempt #2

This was attempt number two. I first knit the cables too tight, so I had to rip back and throw in a few yarn overs before each cable to give them room to breathe. It looked like crap, but given the amount of time I spent trying to get it right, I didn’t have the heart to frog it. It sat around for a while, and then finally I brought up the nerve and ripped it apart. Then I realized I should photograph it for posterity, which is why the hat has no top in this picture.
