I love Hel Looks. It’s a street style blog from Helsinki, and it’s always brimming with wacky colour combinations and Scandinavian whimsy, like the outfit above. Isn’t that a great scarf? (You see, I do have an excuse to post this here, because it sort of involves knitting.) This is how I wish I could dress all the time. I need to be more fashion-y; I read the blogs and the magazines but I wear boring sweaters and jeans. Time for a lime green coat!
More after the jump.
lol! Gothic Lolitas! You thought the white folks in North America love Japan? I’ll bet you a million dollars the even whiter folks in Helsinki love Japan more.
Nice sweater.
LOL! Ok, now this post is degenerating into a long line of pictures of Finnish people being ridiculous.
Ooh, pretty! Ok, we’re back on track.
Classy. I like the sweater coat.
Off track again.
Alright, last one, and this comes with a quote. Every sentence from this quote is GOLD. He also reminds me of a friend of mine, which adds an extra layer of hilarity because these are the sorts of things I could imagine him saying if someone were to ask him about his clothing.
“Businesslike and decent styles inspire me. Like having a poor background and trying to show through your clothes that you are a good citizen. He-Man, Pasolini and Wu-Tang Klan give me inspiration, too. Michel Foucault is my style idol. I like his aggressively intelligent and academic style.”
This guy RULES.

OMG too funny! I love all those scarves! I really like the first two pictures, rockin’ pink scarf!

I didn’t check them all but did you notice that at least some of the outdoor photos were taken in December and there is no snow and it is Finland! At least we have some now, though I don’t know about Helsinki.

Yeah, we didn’t have any snow all December either (in CANADA!) and for most of January it was almost sweater weather! But now we’re getting lots of snow; yesterday my friends and I had a snowball fight

Thanks for the Hel Looks site. It’s really fun. I too want to be more fashion-y. My favorite fashion blog is the Satorialist. It’s a little less wacky but still good inspiration.
