You Make My Day!

So lately I’ve been going through a “what’s the point” stage with my blogging. Blogging is great in that I can learn about all sorts of crafty things, but it’s a bit discouraging to spend lots of time taking pictures or writing a big long post or tutorial and then only having 3 people comment on it, or 30 people clicking through from feeds to read the actual post. But all is well now because apparently I have made Orata‘s day! Thank you, Orata! This is made even more awesome by the fact that Orata is totally rad and I love her blog. So here’s the rules to this thing:
“Give the award to 10 people whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration and make you feel happy about blogland. Let them know by posting a comment on their blog so they can pass it on. Beware you may get the award several times.”

I have to admit to being really visual in my blog choices. Unless it’s a really really really really good blog, I tend to unsubscribe if there are no pretty pictures in the feed. There are some blogs I read simply because their pictures inspire me, if not the knitting itself. The ten reverse-alphabetized blogs below, however (reverse-alphabetized because the Zeds never get enough love), are ones I read because they inspire my own knitting. It’s only a side benefit that the pictures are pretty

Thanks, guys! You’ve all made my day!

Than you

I hope you won’t stop blogging, because I like reading it! Maybe we all should comment on the posts we read a little bit more often instead. That’s what makes a blogger’s day, after all..
Tora.

I’ve been feeling similarly about blogging lately too. I’ve been trying to remind myself when I read all of my favorite blogs through Google Reader that I should actually click through and comment, since I love getting comments myself. But, yeah, I understand what you’re saying and you’re not alone.

I enjoy checking out your blog a couple of times a week! I am a lurker-on-the fringe type knitter, so I can appreciate that a little feedback makes a person’s day. I like your fresh take on things, keep on-a-bloggin’!

I enjoy reading all your posts (usually in google reader in order to be efficient enough to excuse doing it at work). Thanks for the inspiration and humor! And the pretty pictures.

Hey, Eve, I too love your blog. Your “Pattern Saturdays” are a major (positive) time suck for me to leisurely click through. I love your funny critiques of beautiful/oddball fashion trends. And on and on. I know blogging can feel un-nurturing sometimes and it’s your call but I hope you keep it up and we all get to read NE for a long time!!!

Aw, thanks guys! Don’t worry, I will never stop blogging, it’s in my blood. I am way too anti-social to tell real life people about my knitting escapades. People on the internet are more fun!

Don’t think for a minute that the number of comments you get has anything to do with your readership! I have between 1500 and 2000 hits a day and I almost never get up to 30 comments. There just isn’t enough time to read the blogs we want to keep up with, write our own blogs, AND comment! I have found that if you comment on someone else’s blog enough you will probably get to know them. When someone comments on my blog I almost always go over to their blog and check out their knitting. It’s a great way for me to find new blogs, because if someone takes the time to comment on mine we probably have similar interests.
Thanks so much for the Make My Day tag. It’s always cool when I find out that someone I didn’t know before likes my blog. I’m honored – you made my day!
By the way, I love that knitted deer in the earlier entry. Bizarre yet strangely compelling.
