My First Bouquet!

Pretty Flowers

On Sunday I took The Beau on a walk by the pond. I found all sorts of pretty flowers along the edge of the river, so I decided to make a little bouquet for my Mom. I think it turned out pretty nice! I have no idea what the flowers are that make up the majority of the bouquet, but my Mom says she used to call them Kaeseblumen (literally “cheese flowers”) when she was a girl.

I think I did a nice job of mixing textures in this bouquet, but I wish there’d been a bit more colour. I could only find purple or white flowers and there were some garish yellow flowers that I’m pretty sure were weeds, so I didn’t add them. I did find some forget-me-nots that I tucked in. Not sure if they really went with the rest of the bouquet, but I liked seeing them peek out from behind the other flowers. Looking at the pictures now, I should have used three lilac bunches instead of two, and then two of the grey branches to go in between the lilacs.

Patchwork Chair

Not only does Design*Sponge have a wonderful cork trivet tutorial, but they’ve also got a sweet Patchwork Chair on display. I love the back side as well, with that fringe coming off in one place. It really emphasizes the asymmetry of the design.
