I think this is something that all of us can agree on. Knitting is not this mysterious fancy thing that only people with golden hands can do if they boil a cauldron of newt eyes and frog beaks. I don’t understand it when I read people saying “I’m afraid to try fair isle” or “cables are too hard.” So this comic makes me happy, in a sort of asshole-y way.

When I say “I’m afraid” or “is too hard”, what I’m really saying is…I’m afraid the finished object will turn out really ugly, and so I don’t want to try making it.
Not everyone can do everything well, you know.

I always figured with knitting that I could take a whack at it. If it doesn’t work out, it’s just yarn and can be frogged. Now glass blowing fascinates and frightens me.

I am often a chicken but I am not known to say “oh i could never do that”. There might be some sort of self confidence issue in someone saying that. I normally say something like “I want to design something with sleeves but I’m scared I’ll mess it up”. I *do* eventually try it though! I am also a “starter” so it’s like OH i want to try cabled so I swatch it up, do a cable and think “oh okay thats how that was done, good to know” and then I loose all drive to do anymore of it because now I ‘know how’ lol.

Ya, that makes sense. I’m mostly talking about people who would never try it.
